The Brant Advocate – Here We Grow Again! (Andrew Macklin, @AMacklin)
It is my distinct pleasure to inform all of you of some incredible changes that are happening with the Advocate.
In recent months, you have likely heard news of several people stepping up their involvement with the Advocate in order to meet the increasing demands of the publication. We have previously welcomed Jeff Showers to the team as our Distribution Manager, and recently, we were lucky enough to have Robert Lavigne join our team to take over the expanding needs of our social media tools to help tell everyone about the incredible work that all of you have done over the past 14 months.
Now, it is very exciting for me to announce some new additions to our editorial team. I am very happy to welcome Leisha Sanko on as our new Managing Editor. Leisha is heavily involved in student publications at Laurier, and has offered to come on board to assist me in expanding our editorial capabilities. Her role will be integral in moving the content of the Advocate forward in the months and years to come. In addition, five members of our faculty have teamed up to provide additional proofreading resources, which will allow Leisha and myself more time for creating and developing more content for the Advocate. The proofreaders are Karen Thomson, Dave Carrol, Becca Vandekemp, Markus McDaniel, and Lisa Wood. This team is in addition to the hard work already being done by Bekah Pitts, Laura Duguid, Robert Lavigne, and Marc and Lucas, who have all been assisting me on a regular basis.
The additions to the team will help us to further grow the publication. We will be working even harder now to work with each of you to develop the best submissions possible, through content development, photographic elements, and online tools. Also, this will allow us to better streamline the production process to provide a better quality publication from front to back.
